 USA Casket Tour Tentative Dates: October 26 - October 31, 2014 Thistle Threads and Hanging by a Thread are planning to announce a study tour of the East Coast of the USA in late January, 2014. The primary purpose of the trip is to provide a venue for international students of the Cabinet of Curiosities to pick up their casket orders in person. Booking preference will be for COC international students and then after a period, it will become open for general bookings. The tour starts in New York City with a behind the scenes tour of the MET storage facilities as well as many exciting caskets and stumpwork pieces. A lecture will follow. Several other exciting venues with caskets are planned in NYC. The tour continues in Boston with a visit to the Museum of Fine Arts Boston to view pieces before a workshop on finishing a trinket box. The tour finishes with a private dinner in a collection and the presentation of the caskets. This tour is time to correspond with a Needlework seminar at Winterthur Museum to allow students to conveniently attend both with suggested travel routes in between Winterthur and the start of the tour in NYC.
