These smooth threadwinders are made from black walnut with a lovely oil finish. Use them to store the partial lengths of valuable threads such as gilt sylke twist or speciality silks. I use them to store my hand twisted threads that I use for more advanced techniques in Japanese embroidery and Stuart Era stumpwork.
