Description:
The Lace Sample Kit is the means to participate as a lace maker on the Plimoth Jacket Project. The kit gives comprehensive directions on the sample lace which incorporates the techniques used on jacket project through diagrams and pictures. The lace pricking in the kit is not the same lace as it on the jacket as we don’t yet have licensing permission for the Laton lace. Enough metal threads is supplied to allow the lace maker to make two samples, one to return to Plimoth and the other to keep.
The sample piece is used by the project staff to assign a lace maker to the jacket. Those who send one in and can’t travel to participate in the jacket can rest assured that their samples will be used to further the research and educational goals of the project. We anticipate using many as ‘touch-me’ samples in the final exhibition.
Many guilds have purchased the kits as programs to teach metal thread bobbin lace, knowing that they have helped fund this wonderful endeavor.
Kit Contents:
About 12 yards silver-gilt and silver tambour thread and instructions to replicate the sample lace.
Donation:
$20 of each kit goes to Plimoth Plantation as restricted funds for the Jacket Project
