Between 2000 and 2004, Thistle Threads collaborated with the Historic Needlework Guild to produce a Limited Edition Kit for each year. Each kit was limited to a production of 500 kits. A portion of the proceeds is given to an organization, which promotes historical embroidery. A limited number of the kits are now available under the Thistle Threads brand to complete the 500-kit limit for each design.
Previous grantees include:
- The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston to sponsor the "Sampler A to Z exhibit" in 2000 and a second grant to purchase conservation supplies for their new textiles storage area in 2002.
- The Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts to sponsor the "Painted with Threads" exhibit in 2001.
- The Victorian and Albert Museum in London, England to purchase a camera with high magnification function for the textile and costume department.
- Plimoth Plantation to purchase materials for their Stuart-era embroidered jacket project.
- Additional funds have been donated to Colonial Williamsburg to aid in the purchase of two important samples completed under the tutelage of Judith Hayle and her daughter.
